2022 Guinness Six Nations Fixtures

The 2022 Guinness Six Nations Championship is the most anticipated tournament in years as fans are hopeful to flood through the gates of the Aviva Stadium to support their team once again. Ireland will host the 2021 Champions, Wales; the most exciting team of last years championship, Scotland; and a young Italian side growing in confidence.

First up for Andy Farrell’s side is Wales on Saturday, 5th February in what is always a brutally physical game for both sides. Ireland will be looking to avenge last years defeat in Cardiff, when the men in green came agonisingly close in what was eventually a 21 – 16 win for the home side. Wayne Pivac’s Welsh side never looked back after that game as they went on to win the tournament and nearly were crowned Grand Slam champions but for a late French try in Paris.

Ireland will then host Italy on Sunday, 27th February who are a team that have really developed over the last two seasons, led primarily by their impressive young out-half, Paolo Garbisi. While the Italians are never as easy game, the Irish team will look to score plenty of tries in what is always a terrific game for crowd entertainment. Ireland scored six tries in Rome last year as they went on to win 48 – 10.

Finally, Ireland welcome Scotland to the Aviva Stadium on the final day of the tournament, 19th March, in what could be a Championship decider. It took a last gasp Johnny Sexton penalty to separate these two sides in Edinburgh last year, with Ireland winning the tie 27 – 24. Scotland played some brilliant rugby in 2021 which culminated with wins away in Twickenham and the Stade de France so this game is one not to be missed.
